If you have never thought of Portugal as a horse riding holiday destination, then read what follows and think again. Taking a horse riding holiday in Portugal just to experience the fabulous Lusitano horses is reason enough : The Lusitano horse has made Portugal famous in the horse world because it is mostly described to give the rider an experience of power and living.

The most beautiful natural areas lie in the Minho , Lima, and Douro valley. You can explore the verdant beauty and rural customs of the Minho Valley.
In the eastern part of the Minho province (Costa Verde), you will find the Serra da Cabreira : an enchanted mountain range where the olives groves offers you the best olives ever and where you can enjoy the most beautiful horse rides.

The different valleys are surrendered by small villages and the region is a paradise for horse riding, walking and hiking. Indeed, you will find old sinuous roads quite no longer used.

In the Serra you can walk or ride for hours without meeting anyone, except maybe a shepherd with his sheep and goats. In addition, you can find some centuries-old stone shelters or rupestral art.

After a long tired day-walking and/or horse-riding, you will be able (and deserve !) to savour a little glass of vinho verde (white sparkeling wine), a northern speciality while listening to Fado (portuguese traditional music).
